Real Criticism Made Irreverently Clear

Racial Slurs In Video Game Chat

I like to play multiplayer video games on my PC and Xbox 360. I always hear or see in the chat box the words “nigger” or “dirty mexican”.  The gamers say these words so casually.

When I hear these utterances I wonder if there are Hispanics or Blacks on the game seeing or hearing this. And then I feel all awkward and wonder if  a black person is going to start screaming defensively into the microphone, but it hasn’t happened yet. It’s funny how the other gamers ignore/tolerate the words. So I wonder if it’s mostly white people who play these games.

  • I joined a guild that doesnt talk like that and i dont hear it much. But when there are blacks or mexicans in chat it roles both ways and they usually have license to call them cracker or white trash, they do and we kill the boss and loot!

  • And you probably only play World of Warcraft. I have played numerous multiplayer games over the years and 9 times out of 10, it's some white dude spouting off nigger this, spic that, etc.
I have never heard cracker, honky, etc. from any black person or Hispanic.
